Project Purpose & Description |
As a part of the Korean government's effort to promote cooperation in science and technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Ministry of Knowledge and Industry will co-host the 2012 FEALAC Seminar on Science and Technology Parks(STP) to be held in Seoul from September 10-12, 2012. The Korean Government has the honor to invite all FEALAC member countries, United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean(ECLAC), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific(ESCAP) to participate in the seminar." " In the seminar, the Korean officials and experts in the fields of Science and Technology will share Korea's experience in national development and the historical role of the STP as well as the current state and future plans for the development of advanced science and technology industries and private-public R&D cooperation. The program followed by the seminar will provide an opportunity to visit Korea's major STP located in Daejeon and to meet officials and experts of the STP operation and research institutions." |

Activity Description & Outcome |
Korea took into account the deep interest expressed over time by East Asian and Latin American countries in Korea's science and technology education and management of science and technology parks. Korea has sought ways to contribute to the mandate in the Tokyo Declaration which states !**!technological innovation for strengthening competitiveness!**! as one of the priority areas of cooperation in the Science and Technology W/G. Science and technology policy experts and authorities from 15 countries participated and discussed their respective sicence and technology policies, programs, successful cases and strategies for cooperation. " " The participating countries were: Argentina, Colombia, China, Ecuador, El Salvador, Indonesia, Myanmar, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Thailand, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam and ECLAC." " The Republic of Korea hopes that cooperation between Korea and FEALAC member countries on science and technology policies will deepen and that cooperation in science and technology innovation will mark the beginning of a new chapter. |
