Participants will acquire spoken and written language skills in Spanish within a short period of time and they will also gain knowledge about Mexican culture."

Since 2008, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, through its Diplomatic Academy, the Matias Romero Institute,o rganizes a Spanish language course for foreign diplomats. This course has been designed and is given by specialized instructors at the Learning Center for Foreigners (CEPE) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) for a period of five months. Usually every year two groups are offered, beginners and intermediate level. In addition, a course on Mexican culture (history, literature and art) is also offered."

Activity Description & Outcome

At both basic knowledge of Spanish and intermediate level, the Spanish course offers intensive practice in the Spanish language in the following four areas: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and speaking and writing abilities. The course on Mexican culture will introduce the participants to a mosaic of the most representative literary and artistic expressions throughout Mexico’s history."

The course will teach foreign diplomats the Spanish spoken in Mexico so that they can have a better understanding of the country and a general overview of the national culture."

The edition of this year considers a bursary increase. And the course will take place in Taxco, Guerrero."
