II. Executive Summary
| Project Purposes | The cultural program “Spanish as a Foreign Language” aims to strengthen ties between countries through knowledge about Colombia, emphasizing aspects such as geography, history, peace, society, customs and traditions, gastronomy, among others, through the teaching of the Spanish language to government officials from non-Spanish-speaking countries. This initiative also makes it possible to identify future opportunities for cooperation between Colombia and the participating countries. This cultural program has been carried out for more than 12 years, involving over 20 countries around the world. |

| Activity Description | Topics included in the classes of “Spanish as a Foreign Language”: 1. Culture • Music: traditional colombian musical instruments, fairs, festivals, carnivals, and representative cultural practices from the different regions of our country (Blacks and Whites’ Carnival, Petronio Álvarez Festival, Pirarucú de Oro Festival in the Amazon, Flower Festival, San Pacho Festivities). • Literature: colombian writers, notable books (The Vortex - La vorágine), independent publishing houses in Colombia. • Gastronomy: traditional regional dishes, traditional sweets. • Ethnic diversity: cultural practices of Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and Raizal communities. 2. Education • Outstanding Colombian women in science. • Colombia’s participation in Pro Tempore Presidencies of mechanisms such as CELAC-EU. 3. Sports • Traditional sports. • Outstanding athletes. 4. Biodiversity • Colombian flora and fauna. |
