| Activity Description | The Embassy of Mongolia to Canada, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to Canada, which jointly serve as Regional Coordinators of the Forum for East Asia–Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), organized an informal networking meeting for Heads of Diplomatic Missions of 25 FEALAC member states on 10 December 2025 at the Embassy of Mongolia in Ottawa. The meeting provided a platform for open discussion on current regional and global challenges, FEALAC’s evolving role, and practical avenues for enhancing interregional collaboration. |
| Outcomes | The Embassy of Mongolia to Canada, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to Canada, which currently serve as regional co-chairs of the Forum for East Asia–Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), hosted a friendly meeting of Heads of Diplomatic Missions of FEALAC member states accredited to Canada. The event brought together Heads of Missions from 25 FEALAC member countries, providing a valuable platform to exchange views and reinforce interregional cooperation. H.E. E. Sarantogos, Ambassador of Mongolia to Canada, opened the session by highlighting the growing people-to-people ties, cultural exchanges, and economic complementarity between East Asia and Latin America. She praised FEALAC’s role as a dynamic platform for dialogue, referencing the Ulaanbaatar Declaration as a roadmap for shared priorities. Ambassador José Blanco Conde added that there is a need for FEALAC to adapt to global challenges, from geopolitical tensions to economic and environmental pressures, strengthen technical and digital cooperation, and ensure fair and inclusive leadership in the rotation of Regional Coordinators. The event was a good opportunity for the member states to discuss and exchange ideas on growing people-to-people ties, cultural exchanges, trade, green technology, climate-smart agriculture, digital innovation, education, and women’s empowerment, with projects like ‘FEALAC Young Female Diplomats Program’, "Extractive industries for energy transition – interregional cooperation on critical mineral value chains" as concrete examples of interregional cooperation. Reflecting the Ulaanbaatar Declaration, the gathering emphasized the value of informal dialogue, political engagement, and collaboration, reinforcing trust and enabling member states to continuously exchange views on regional and global developments. As FEALAC co-chairs, Mongolia and the Dominican Republic reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening interregional cooperation, ensuring continuity, and promoting initiatives that benefit both regions. |
