Project Purposes The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea, in its capacity as the Co-chair of the TITM Working Group (Trade, Investment, Tourism, MSMEs), is hosting the event titled '2025 Voices of Young FEALAC: Ideas for a Better TITM Connection,' in collaboration with the FEALAC Cyber Secretariat. The primary objectives of this event are to hear the voices from the FEALAC youth for revitalizing the cooperative regional initiative between East Asia and Latin America, advance the institutionalization of the TITM Working Group, and nurture the next generation of FEALAC leaders.

This event marks its fourth occurrence after the previous '2024 Voices of Young FEALAC: Ideas for a Better SPCSDCC Connection', '2023 Voices of Young FEALAC: Ideas for a Better TITM Connection' and '2020 Voices of Young FEALAC: Ideas for a Better Connection.' This idea contest is being participated in by FEALAC Young Leaders, who have dedicated their efforts to enhance the visibility of FEALAC both domestically and internationally, and who have studied a range of cooperative initiatives and cases from FEALAC member countries. Above all, this year holds special value as they strive to identify methods to enhance the TITM cooperation projects for both East Asian and Latin American countries.
Activity Description Each team is required to choose a single field from TITM (Trade, Investment, Tourism, and MSME) Working Group, and develop a project idea centered around their chosen field and presenting project proposals for a FEALAC regional initiative. The cooperative ideas suggested by the FEALAC Young Leaders will be considered for the FEALAC’s next regional project after assessing their feasibility through a tendering process.
Outcomes he young leaders presented their project ideas based on one of FEALAC’s Working Groups' topics: Trade, Investment, Tourism, MSMEs (TITM). Most of the ideas were well-aligned with these three cooperative topics, aiming to revitalize and strengthen regional cooperation between East Asia and Latin America.

The judges, Ms. Kim Hye Won (Director of the Latin American and Caribbean Cooperation Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea), Ms. Crystal Lee (Programme Advisor, FEALAC Cyber Secretariat), and Mr. Lee Seungho (Assistant Professor, Jeonbuk University), were invited to evaluate the young participants’ ideas.

Here are the topics suggested during the event:

Team 1. FEALAC Youth Startup Fusion Hub
Team 2. FEALAC MSMEs Consortium for Digital Healthcare Infrastructure
Team 3. FEALAC Mano Link - Partnership for Better TITM Connection within FEALAC
Team 4. Solution for FTA Rules of Origin Compliance for SMEs in FEALAC Member Countries
Team 5. Heritago - A Digital Platform for Traditional Cultural Experiences Across FEALAC Countries
Team 6. GreenLeap by FEALAC: Hybrid Platform for Circular Economy MSME's Trade & Investment Growth
Team 7. Multilingual AI Platform for FEALAC MSMEs' Financial Accessibility
Team 8. Establishment of an East Asia-Latin America Digital Trade Platform

Among these, Team 5 won the Grand Prize (1st Prize), and Team 2 won the Excellence Prize (2nd Prize). All project ideas were fruitful in exploring ways to enhance regional cooperation between the two regions, East Asia and Latin America.

The young participants, consisting of 24 university and graduate students from 8 FEALAC member countries (East Asia: Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Viet Nam; Latin America: Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia), have been engaged in various activities to increase the visibility of FEALAC.

Next Steps The "Voices of Young FEALAC" has been held regularly since its inauguration in 2020 in commemoration of FEALAC Day (September 1), organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea and the FEALAC Cyber Secretariat. The theme of this event changes annually, based on FEALAC’s four Working Groups' cooperative topics and the FEALAC Trust Fund.

Past Themes:
(2020) Ideas for ‘Wide-Projects’
(2023) Ideas for ‘TITM Regional Projects’
(2024) Ideas for ‘SPCSDCC Regional Projects’
(2025) Ideas for 'TITM Regional Projects'

In this vein, next year, the “2026 Voices of Young FEALAC: Ideas for a Better TITM Connection” is planned to be held. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea and the Cyber Secretariat look forward to continuously hearing the voices and creative ideas from the young generation, who will be the next leaders of FEALAC.
